Putting the Puzzle Together: Truth, Reconciliation and Healing

On Thursday, 6/25/2020, Living Waters Inc in collaboration with the UCity Civic & Faith Leaders Network hosted Putting The Puzzle Together: Truth, Reconciliation, and Healing. It was the first in a series of candid discussions with faith and civic leaders and advocates concerning racial inequities, disparities, and social injustices in the greater Charlotte area.

These conversations and listening sessions are held in a safe environment and aim to:

  1. Peel back the layers regarding the past and present conditions and actions related to racial inequities, and social justice including the bridges and barriers
  2. Identify holistic and realistic approaches to move towards reconciliation between Black and other communities, Black and white faith communities, and the different minority communities
  3. Identify the changes needed to start the process of learning how to proceed with efforts to help minorities, especially the black faith community heal from the traumatic impacts of racial inequities, disparities, and social injustices.

Approximately 40 faith and civic leaders and advocates participated in the discussion. The event included a panel of distinguished faith leaders, featured speakers, and a powerful and moving lived story by a young mother who shared about her journey of racism, faith, and trauma.

We will continue the Truth, Reconciliation, and Healing dialogues on Thursday, August 13th from 9:am-12:00pm, by hosting  Racism And The Church, A Candid Conversion With Diverse Faith Leaders.
