Addressing mental health in towns and communities requires overcoming a number of barriers while building on existing bridges to community connections. Citizens of the Town of Davidson, NC and surrounding communities require targeted engagement and outreach strategies along with treatment and services that are tailored to their backgrounds, families, and cultures to improve their mental health.

As we close out mental health awareness for the month of October, Living Waters Inc will host the 2026 Mental Health Summit in Davidson, NC. The theme is Bridges and Barrier To Community Connections: Town of Davidson, NC and Surrounding Communities. The Summit is in collaborative partnership with Commissioner Tracy Mattison Brandon, Arms Wide Open Ministries, International, and the Ada Jenkins Center.

The Summit aims to promote awareness, dialogue and partnership to address the gaps in helping individuals, children and families living in towns and communities to access mental health care. There will be a special focus on the elderly, the homeless and disadvantaged racial and ethnic groups.

Objectives:

The objectives are:

• Promote strategies for healthcare systems, social services and faith-based communities to work together to support children, individuals and families with mental and emotional health challenges.
• Discuss connections and referral protocols with community programs and mental health providers that support individuals, families and promote resilience and healing.
• Explore access to care and support for population of children, individuals and families from religious or cultural communities.
