
Vernessa Bowles, PhD
Dr. Vernessa Bowles is a licensed psychological associate and family advocate. She is the Director of Student Wellness and Academic Support Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. In this role, she manages School Based Mental Health Program, Social Emotional Learning, Coordinated School Health, Day Treatment, and Student Assistance Program (intervention for substance use). She also operates One Touch Psychological Services, PLLC in Charlotte and surrounding areas.
Dr. Bowles has worked in the field of psychology and mental health for more than a decade. She has experience in the assessment, intervention and mental health counseling of children, adolescents, and adults. She has worked in community mental health centers, school districts, and juvenile detention centers including working as a School Psychologist in Athens, Georgia
She received her Ph.D. in Combined School Psychology and Counseling Psychology from Florida State University and her Master of Science and Specialist of Education from the Florida State University. She also received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Elementary Education.
Dr. Bowles is also an accomplished author. She has written two children’s books, Gabby the Great Tries Out and Gabby the Great Goes to the Beach which are about a young girl who has cerebral palsy. Dr. Bowles is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
