Charlotte, NC – July 25, 2024 – In honor of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Awareness Month, the Charlotte-based non-profit, Living Waters Inc, in collaboration with Empower Your Life Services, hosted a pivotal event titled “Domestic Violence and Mental Health: Impacts on Children and Families.”
The event, hosted at StoneBridge Church Community, brought together a diverse group of social workers, counselors, researchers, justice-involved professionals, community and faith leaders, and other stakeholders from child and family servicing organizations. This important dialogue aimed to explore the intersection of domestic violence and mental health and its profound impacts on children and families, particularly within BIPOC communities.
Event Highlights:
- Unique Intersections and Needs: The event underscored the unique intersections and needs of survivors, children, and families regarding the mental health impacts of domestic violence.

- Role of Clergy and Faith Leaders: The event also emphasized the critical role of clergy and faith leaders as bridge builders to support the mental health of affected individuals.
The collaboration between Living Waters Inc and Empower Your Life Services was met with enthusiastic participation and engagement, highlighting the community’s dedication to addressing these critical issues.
