Candace Wilson

Candace Wilson is the Director of Family and Peer Support Services for Mental Health America of Central Carolinas. She has worked in Mecklenburg County for over 30 years supporting and advocating for children and families. Additionally, she is a trainer for QPR – Question, Persuade, Refer (suicide prevention training), Mental Health First Aid – Adult, Youth, Public Safety and Fire/EMS, the MeckCARES Community Training Institute (System of Care and Child and Family Team Training), and a certified Triple P practitioner.

Prior to joining the MHA ParentVOICE staff in March 2010, she has served as an advocate for children and families at the Council for Children/Council for Children’s Rights for over 20 years. Candace is a 1988 graduate of Wingate College with her BS in Human Services. (In her free time) she works part-time for the Carolina Panthers Guest Relations team as a game day Team Leader and tour guide and Sir Purr party hostess. Most importantly, Candace is the mother of 2 wonderful sons. Hunter is 26 years old and works for a mold restoration company; Cooper is 25 years old and is a Firefighter with Monroe Fire Department
